The Minister of Energy and Industry, HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada has lauded the achievements of Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) which were accomplished in just one year since it was established.
During a visit on Thursday to the company’s headquarters, al-Sada said, “Muntajat has already achieved significant operational and commercial milestones by being responsible for the marketing and sales of almost 90% of Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical products.” He hoped this will become 100% by the end of the year.
Al-Sada said in a company statement issued yesterday that Muntajat is delivering on its promise to customers and providing a platform for the industry to grow in line with the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. “The downstream industry is primed for expansion in alignment with the Qatar National Vision of a diversified and competitive economy,” al-Sada said.
“Future planned investments in the downstream sector, will enable Muntajat to play an increasingly important role in representing Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical industry to the world,” he said.
Al-Sada, who is also the chairman of Muntajat, was accompanied by board members and the executive officials of Muntajat. He met the Muntajat management team and was briefed on the company’s progress and achievements and the integration of the marketing and sales activities of Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical producing entities.
Muntajat CEO, Abdulrahman Ali al-Abdullah said: “I would like to thank HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh al-Sada for his presence and complete support over the past months. Muntajat has been able to meet its objectives, starting with acquiring the export responsibilities for more than 90% of Qatar’s chemical and petrochemical products.
“With shipments reaching around 40 countries, we have quickly built a global business and positioned ourselves strategically worldwide. We now embark on our next phase of operations, moving to grow the global network and expand customer relationships. Part of that process will include opening offices in 26 countries. I would also like to thank every one of the 185 Muntajat employees for their hard work getting us to where we are today” al-Abdullah said.
Muntajat has taken over marketing and distribution functions of Qatar Fuel Additives Company (Qafac), Qatar Fertiliser Company (Qafco), Seef Limited, Qatar Vinyl Company (QVC), Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) and Qatofin. Muntajat is on track to complete the full consolidation of the marketing and distribution of the products of all nine producing entities by the end of 2013.
Muntajat was recently recognised as the Downstream Company of the Year by The Oil & Gas Year for 2013.
