Tasweeq (Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Company) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan Cooperation Center, Petroleum (JCCP) for exchange of training and development programmes in the oil and gas sector.
The specific objective is to have access to various technical and non-technical courses organised by JCCP, exposing participants of both parties to best practices and expertise.
A major component of the MoU is the implementation of employee exchange practice, where Tasweeq will receive in 2014, for the first time, Japanese employees at its headquarters.
“This will be a good opportunity to introduce them to Tasweeq’s various activities and acquaint them to the Qatari culture,” a Tasweeq spokesman said.
The agreement was signed by Saad al-Kuwari, CEO of Tasweeq and Masataka Sase, executive director of JCCP, in the presence of representatives from both companies.
“We believe the signing of this MoU between Tasweeq and JCCP will allow the Japanese employees to be familiar with the vital role Tasweeq plays in marketing Qatar’s oil and petroleum products,” al-Kuwari said.
With this MoU, JCCP would like to further strengthen the relationship between Qatar and Japan and thus build a strong foundation between it and Tasweeq, Sase said.
JCCP has developed two programmes, the ‘Training Programme (TP)’ and the ‘Joint Technical Co-operation Programme (JTCP)’. In terms of TP, JCCP received more than 21,000 overseas participants in Japan and sent more than 5,000 Japanese experts to oil producing countries.
JCCP received as many as 600 people from Qatar and sent about 150 Japanese experts to Qatar.
