The sixth annual Exploring Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Education Conference will be held from March 2 to 4. College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) will host the event in partnership with Maersk Oil Qatar.

The conference, one of Qatar’s leading events for teachers and educational administrators, explores how technology can be adopted and applied in classrooms to enhance teaching practices and learning. The conference will offer over 70 hands-on workshop sessions by 22 international and local experts, with this year’s theme being “Robotics in Education”.

Keynote speakers include Dr Ethan Danahy of Tufts University, USA, and robotics expert Daniel Benedettelli from Italy, who will discuss the educational possibilities presented by LEGO robotics and how these can be integrated into the classroom.

Workshops available at the conference will cover a range of topics, including sessions on introductory and advanced robotics, web 2.0 tools for the classroom and authoring digital content.

“We are excited to be able to provide such an important learning experience for teachers and administrators from schools around Qatar,” said Dr Theodore Chiasson, dean, School of Information Technology at CNA-Q. “Information and communications technology is breaking down barriers in classrooms, creating new and exciting ways for students to learn and prepare for the future. It is vital that educators keep abreast of the innovations that are available.”

“We are delighted to be partners with College of the North Atlantic - Qatar for this event. The conference is a fantastic opportunity for schoolteachers and administrators to build their knowledge and skills in technology and enhance the learning environment in schools,” said Faisal al-Medaihki, social investment manager at Maersk Oil Qatar. “The ICT conference continues to deliver cutting-edge content and we hope this year the robotics theme will drive interest in science, technology and engineering in schools across Qatar.”
