A total of 22 Doha-based artists from 13 different countries will be exhibiting their work under the aegis of International Artists Doha (IAD) at the third annual exhibition hosted and sponsored by Qatar Foundation.

The artists will be exhibiting their latest works that address the theme “Between Cultures” and offer a wide range of styles from realism to abstract.

Jean-Paul Engelen, director, public art at Qatar Museums Authority, accompanied by Sheikha Hala al-Khalifa, head of the artists in residence programmes, will officially open the exhibition on May 1 at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre in Education City.

Christina Zini, founder of Qatar Professional Women’s Network will act as master of ceremonies. Speeches will also be delivered by IAD co-founder and chair Marjolijn Stolk, VCU Qatar dean Allyson Vanstone and Rodha al-Saadi from Qatar
Foundation.

The artists hail from Qatar, The Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, Australia, India, Egypt, Iran, Barbados, Portugal, Sudan, the United Kingdom and the Philippines. The success of the artist group’s previous exhibitions has encouraged them to further improve the exhibition experience for visitors. The event will again be staged at the AaQool Atrium at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre in Education City.

The artists participating in the exhibition include Marjolijn Stolk, Annette Wendling-Willeke, Urvashi Chauhan, Mohammed al-Atiq, Nourelhadi Awad, Salim Abdulla, Mahgoub al-Magboul, Dominika Bozic, Pip Hoy, Shihar Hamza, Behnaz Larsen, Willemien Mansell, Doerte Meichsner, Jameela al-Shraim, Nigel Muter, Beverley Ross, Arnel Sarmiento, Hannelore Seckel, Verity Watkins, Pedro Boaventura and Sylvia Gomes.

In addition to original artworks being on display, all artists have contributed a 30x30 cm piece which will be offered to the public by way of a silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will be returned to IAD to fund their future public events. The official opening takes place at 18.15 on Wednesday. The exhibition will also be open on Thursday from 10am-6pm, Friday 12-6pm.and Saturday 10am-4pm.
