The Majesty 135, the newest and largest member of Gulf Craft’s fleet of luxury boats, sports cruisers and leisure craft, made its debut during the annual boat festival which began at The Pearl-Qatar yesterday.

Described as a floating luxury palace, the brand new yacht joined two more of the company’s market premieres: the popular mid-sized Majesty 48 and the Waveshuttle 56 – an on-water limousine or luxury passenger transport vessel.

The Majesty 135 offers on-board features such as the folding balcony on the main deck seating area, large sun deck, and an exceptional interior space use.

The three-deck boat can accommodate 10 guests in five rooms. The twin engines churn out 2,600hp, delivering a maximum speed of 22 knots. It has an ocean-going range of 2,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots.

In a press briefing held at The Pearl-Qatar, Gulf Craft CEO Erwin Bamps noted that the new yacht won the award for best design in Shanghai last year. It joins 14 different luxury yachts docked at The Pearl-Qatar for the three-day ‘Gulf Craft Exclusive Preview’. Bamps said most of these luxury yachts are owned by Qataris and they are expecting more to arrive for the three-day event.

He noted that the Qatari market has always been a major market for Gulf Craft, one of the world’s top builders of super yachts.

He described the Qatar market as a growing market driven by various projects particularly those which are similar to the boat manufacturing industry. It is not confined to fishing but yachting is now an extension of Qataris’ villas, offices, business conferences and meetings. Market share in Qatar is over 30%, according to Bamps.

The company builds around 400 craft annually. It is currently building a bigger vessel – the Majesty 155 – which is expected to be completed by 2015.

Asked about their biggest client outside the region, Gulf Craft chairman Mohamed al- Shaali said many were businessmen from various parts of the world such as Australia, China, France, Italy, the US, and Russia. These also included dignitaries and ruling families.
