The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) yesterday announced that one of the two Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (Mers-CoV) cases reported in Qatar so far this year had “completely recovered” and was discharged from hospital on Sunday.
The 43-year-old Qatari patient was admitted to the Hamad General Hospital on October 20. All the patient’s contacts, including relatives, friends, and healthcare workers who handled the case, were investigated and tested negative for the Mers-CoV.
“Additionally, they were advised about Mers-CoV signs and symptoms, including fever, cough, or shortness of breath besides any possible contact with affected animals or camels,” the SCH said in a statement.
“All of them have been advised to carry out self-monitoring for the symptoms for 14 days and to visit a nearby health facility if they experience any similar symptoms.”
The SCH also informed that the previously confirmed Mers-CoV case of a Qatari aged 71 years, which was announced on October 11, had been found to be Mers-CoV negative.
“However, the patient is currently receiving supportive treatment in the Intensive Care Unit because of complications,” the SCH added in its statement.
