Honourable Makkah, the Secure City; Allah has distinguished it from among all places and made it sacred from the day He created the heavens and the earth.
The importance of the values of glorifying the Sacred City lies in the fact that they are the criterion by which people, ideologies, actions, positions and subjects can be judged and measured; moreover, values decide the identity of the community; the values in a given community have a direct effect and influence on the manners and conduct which the members of that community adopt.
Praise be to Allah Who has created time and has made some times better than others, some months and days and nights better than others, when rewards are multiplied many times, as a mercy towards His slaves. This encourages them to do more righteous deeds and makes them more eager to worship Him.
One must understand that these days are a great blessing from Allah to His slave, which is appreciated properly by the actively righteous. It is the Muslim’s duty to appreciate this blessing and make the most of the opportunity, by devoting these ten days to paying more attention to striving hard in worship.
Allah the Almighty has made matters easy for His slaves as He has legislated Haj to be carried out in three possible ways.
Allah the Almighty has legislated acts of worship and rituals for great wisdom and important purposes. These acts of worship purify the souls and hearts and bring the slave closer to Allah.
Unity and agreement lead to strength and victory, while disunity and disagreement lead to weakness and defeat.
O people! Fear Allah the Almighty and know that Haj is one of the finest acts of worship and the greatest in reward.

Pilgrimage was ordained in the sixth year after the migration of the Prophet . It suffices for a pilgrim to do it once in a lifetime, and performing it more than once is voluntary.

An intensive two-week course focusing on the distinction between ‘Cultural Islam’ and ‘Islamic Culture’ will start tomorrow in Doha.
