LG Electronics (LG) launched its “2013 Smart TV” line-up at the Radisson Blu last night.

The new product line-up offers “easier content access and sharing along with an updated “magic remote” for a simplified, intuitive user experience (UX).

LG’s flagship smart TV, the 55-inch LA 8600, whose top-of-the-range set is priced around QR12,000, offers “the very definition of smart control with its enhanced smart home interface, which allow users to easily access their favourite programmes, premium and local content.”

The magic remote has been redesigned to fine-tune content and menu navigation, making interaction as simple and intuitive as possible.

The enhanced “SmartShare” feature offers users the ability to mirror or transfer content from smart devices to LG Smart TVs via a multitude of connectivity options, including ‘WiDi’ and ‘Miracast’.

The latest line-up will enhance inter-device sharing further by implementing ‘Tag On’, which immediately connects two devices for speedy media sharing.

LG said its smart TV users have a “steadily growing” selection of content to choose from the wide range of premium and local apps available. To further exemplify the experience, LG has launched a handful of new local apps, which users will find informative and exciting.

The new locally-developed LG local apps for Qatar and the GCC region are: Timeout Dubai, ADMCsport.com, Alaan TV, Zawya, Roya TV, LBC, City 7, CNBC Arabia, Shoof AL Kass, eTarab, Ikbis, AnaZahra, DMTV, Sports360 as well as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

LG’s Cinema 3D Smart TVs employ Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology for what the electronic company said “superior 3D viewing comfort”.

“LG always strives to provide the most engaging, most convenient user experience to con-sumers in the region,” said D Y Kim, President of LG Electronics, Gulf FZE.

“We have been singularly uncompromising, both in developing and improving the LG Smart TV plat-form.”

Speaking at the launch, C V  Rappai, director and general manager, Jumbo Electronics said: “The all new LG TV lineup 2013 is the ultimate in user experience and unparalled in the industry with many unique features which LG has to offer. This new line-up we would further enhance our market share in the LED & 3D category.”

Video Home & Jumbo Electronics also launched its value-added customer loyalty card on the occasion.
