National Day greetings
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to the Romanian president on his country’s National Day.

Pakistan-Qatar ties reviewed
Pakistan’s Minister of Education in Sindh cabinet, Nisar Khuhro, has met Qatar’s Consul General to Pakistan Saad bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud. They reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways of developing them.


Congratulatory cable sent
President of the German Parliament Norbert Lammert has received a cable of congratulations from HE the Speaker of Qatar’s Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Kholaifi on his re-election.
The Speaker of the Advisory Council wished the president of the German parliament success in his duties, and the German people further progress and prosperity.  The message was handed over by Qatar’s Ambassador in Berlin Abdurrahman bin Mohamed al-Kholaifi.

EC official receives message from FM
European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom has received a written message from HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, pertaining to bilateral relations and the European Commission and ways of promoting them. The message was handed over by Qatar’s Ambassador to Brussels Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani during his meeting with director of the office of the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Maria Ascenios.


Training courses for police officers
The Police Training Institute (PTI) commenced yesterday two training courses. One is in association with the Fairfax County Police, US, focusing on the fight against organised crime. The other, for the Airport cadres on the skills of dealing with the public, is in collaboration with the College of Policing, UK.
The inaugural sessions of the training programmes, which will run up to December 12, were attended by Major Abdul Aziz al-Mohanadi, assistant director, PTI, along with other officials.
A total of 16 officers from various departments of the Ministry are participating in the first training session as it comes within the framework of the enforcement of the State’s strategy to protect the residents from criminals. American trainer Christopher Slowinski is the main resource person. The training programme for Airport employees is led by British trainers Paul Rose and Robert Score.
