A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced two GCC expatriate women to six months in jail for attempts to steal three bottles of perfume worth QR2,060 from a shop at a commercial complex.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the court has also ordered their deportation upon serving the sentence.
The two women went to the shop accompanied by their mother and seeing that the salesman was busy, they dropped the bottles into their handbags, taking them out of their boxes. Then, they went out of the shop.
However, shortly after they exited the shop, the salesman discovered the theft and checked the recording of the surveillance camera, which showed the two women hiding the bottles in their handbags.
Accordingly, he notified his supervisor, who alerted the police. The duo were arrested by the police before they could get out of the shopping complex. Upon searching their bags, the stolen perfume bottles were found. Further, they admitted their guilt during the police investigation.
