A four-year-old British girl has died after being left in a car outside a school for several hours on Monday, Doha News reported on Tuesday.
Though the circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be officially confirmed, a number of sources told the digital news service that the girl had been left by a family member in a car, when outdoor temperatures were in the high 30s.
“The circumstances are under investigation by the local authorities,” a spokeswoman for the British embassy said.
In 2010, a four-year-old kindergarten student at an Indian school, also a girl, died when she was left behind in a locked school bus for more than four hours.
Since then, schools have increased monitoring on buses by adding attendants to ensure no children are left behind.
