HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued the following decrees:
1. Decree No 1 of 2017, ratifying a memorandum of understanding in the field of veterinary health and livestock production between Qatar’s ministry of municipality and environment and Georgia’s ministry of agriculture, which was signed in Doha on March 28, 2016.
2. Decree No 2 of 2017, ratifying an agreement between the governments of Qatar and Ecuador on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion regarding income tax and its annexed protocol, which were signed on October 22, 2014.
3. Decree No 3 of 2017, ratifying a memorandum of understanding on promoting Qatari-Chinese co-operation in building the Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road between Qatar’s Foreign Ministry and the People’s Republic of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), which was signed in Beijing on November 3, 2014.
The decrees are effective starting from their date of issue and are to be published in the official gazette.
4. Decree No 4 of 2017, appointing HE Yousuf bin Mohamed al-Othman Fakhro, undersecretary of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA).
Instruments of ratification
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued the following instruments of ratification yesterday:
1. Approving a draft economic, trade and technical co-operation agreement between the governments of Qatar and Serbia signed in Doha on 07/11/2016.
2. Approving a draft memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of financial affairs between Qatar’s ministry of finance and Belarus’s finance ministry signed in Doha on 30/10/2016.
3. Approving a draft memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of health between Qatar’s ministry of public health and Belarus’s ministry of health signed in Doha on 30/10/2016.
Emiri decisions
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued the following Emiri Decisions yesterday:
1. Decision No 1 of 2017, appointing Mohamed Hamad Mubarak al-Khalifa as ambassador to Hungary.
2. Decision No 2 of 2017 annulling the Emiri Decision No 38 of 2011 on the formation of Qatar National Committee for Oil and Gas.
The decision stipulated that Qatar Petroleum shall replace Qatar National Committee for Oil and Gas in all its rights and obligations.
3. Decision No 3 of 2017, appointing Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Ahmed al-Jammal chairman of the General Authority of Customs.
4. Decision No 4 of 2017, appointing HE Dr Saad bin Ahmed bin Ibrahim al-Mohannadi, president of the Public Works Authority.
5. Decision No 5 of 2017, appointing Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah assistant president of the Public Works Authority.
FM meets head of Syrian opposition
HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani yesterday met Riad Hijab, head of the Syrian high negotiations committee, and Anas Al-Abdah, president of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces.
The meeting reviewed the recent developments in Syria, particularly in the wake of the Russian-Turkish agreement on ceasefire. They also exchanged views on efforts to reach a political settlement for the Syrian crisis.
HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi attended the meeting along with Jawad Abu Hatab, prime minister of the Syrian interim government, and Abdel-Ilah al-Fahd, secretary general of the Syrian national opposition coalition.
RAF builds 166 mosques in 14 African states
Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has established 166 mosques in 14 African countries over the past year at a total cost of more than QR12mn.
In its annual report RAF said that these mosques were furnished and equipped with all facilities and were attached by endowments and simple production projects to cover their maintenance expenses.
The report said that the State of Niger was ranked first in the projects to benefit from the mosques, where 33 mosques were built, followed by Mali with 32 mosques and Benin 20 mosques.
Ford Mustang model 2016-2017 recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC), in collaboration with Almana Motors Company, has announced the recall of Ford Mustang model year 2016-2017 over a potential defect in the engine oil cooler tube assembly that could lead to a hose separation and an oil leak.
The MEC said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that car dealers follow up on vehicle defects and repairs.
The MEC will co-ordinate with the dealer to follow up on the maintenance and repair works and communicate with customers to ensure that the necessary repairs are carried out.
