LuLu Group, in association with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), has conducted a cancer awareness programme. The initiative was held to express solidarity with World Cancer Day, LuLu Group said in a press statement.
As part of the programme, all showroom staff of LuLu Hypermarket branches at Al Gharrafa and Al Messila wore T-shirts that carried a message spreading awareness on the importance of preventing cancer.
They did so for two weeks and the initiative coincided with World Cancer Day, which falls on February 4 every year.
This provided an opportunity to the public to spread a healthy lifestyle culture as well as awareness on the need to support cancer patients, the statement noted.
Omar al-Twaissi, marketing co-ordinator at QCS, appreciated the efforts made by LuLu Group in supporting Qatar Cancer Society in the campaign and thanked the LuLu management for the initiative. He also sought the co-operation of all concerned in Qatar in running the campaign to spread awareness about the disease.
He added, “LuLu Group has always been at the forefront of supporting such activities as part of their ongoing corporate social responsibility drive. World Cancer Day is a great opportunity to spread a healthy culture, especially with the increase in the number of cancer patients, which kills nearly 8.2mn people a year around the world.”
Besides raising awareness, the occasion provides an opportunity to highlight the effective cancer-related health services that are readily available in Qatar, it was observed.
