The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has reported that it has identified a number of violations committed by United Arab of Emirates institutions against Qatari investors and residents in Qatar and those who own properties in the UAE.
In a statement on Thursday, the committee called on the UAE authorities not to drag investor rights into the ongoing political differences or to use them as a tool of political pressure, considering these actions a flagrant violations of the international human rights conventions. In a related context, the NHRC pointed to the harsh and stark violations of the siege on Qatar and how it violates a range of civil, economic, social and cultural rights, including the right to own property.
The unjust siege affected the rights of Qatari investors and residents of Qatar who own property in the UAE in specific, by depriving them from this right as stated in the international human rights convents.
If the rights of these investors continue to be violated in their own property in the UAE, the committee will resort to the international human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, it said.
