A Saudi verified Twitter account Mujaz Alakhbaar (@KSA24) was forced to delete a tweet that incited violence and called for terrorist attacks be launched against the State of Qatar and Al Jazeera Media Network. The tweet, which was deemed offensive, inappropriate and disgusting, was removed after being labelled hate speech.
The said Twitter account is only one instance of several other Saudi and Emirati Twitter accounts which have been trying to encourage terrorism. Many online news websites have reported similar Saudi, Bahraini and Emirati Twitter accounts being shut down or forced to delete tweets containing hate speech.
‘Twitter’ identifies hate speech as service violation and strictly bans it.
