The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) yesterday announced that the Qatar Pavilion at Expo 2017, held in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, won the first place and Gold Award among more than 100 pavilions of different participating countries.
Expo Astana 2017, which began on June 10, concludes today.
Qatar has participated in the event with a distinguished pavilion that combines modernity, technology, heritage and authentic Qatari culture, with the façade designed in a particularly innovative and attractive way, the MEC has said in a statement.
The pavilion has highlighted a range of projects and successful experiments pertaining to the future of energy, alternative energy and energy diversification, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. It has also focused on the most important challenges facing the energy sector, besides being a touristic attraction and a hub for business and investment, the statement noted.
Qatar’s pavilion includes a number of sections, each featuring a particular aspect. These include a presentation to familiarise visitors with the history of Qatar, the country’s approach to promoting the use of green technology to reduce carbon emissions, the future of energy and technology and the impact of sustainable energy on the prosperity of societies, among others.
The event has provided an opportunity to participants to promote innovation in the fields of energy, renewable energy and alternative energy, as well as shedding light on environmental and economic issues, among others.
Some 18 international organisations and more than 100 countries have taken part in Expo 2017, which has received millions of visitors from around the world, the statement added.
The MEC has thanked all those who have been part of organising the global event and making it a big success.
