The Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) signed a co-operation agreement with Chinese company, Nuctech, in preparation for a subsequent agreement the two parties will sign under which the Chinese company will take the patent for a number of devices innovated by Lekhwiya, including devices for the safety of construction workers.
The agreement was signed in the presence of HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi, who along with a delegation from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) listened to a detailed explanation of innovative devices for protecting workers.
The agreement was signed by Lekhwiya’s commander of the security technologies brigade, Major Ali Hassan al-Rashed, and Nuctech vice-president Wang Weidong.
Besides devices for the protection of construction workers, the agreement includes intelligent eye sensor, automatic explosive and drug detection device, Nuctech cross-sectional scanning device and the intelligent security fence.
Under the agreement, the Chinese company will manufacture the smart jacket of workers and other devices that have been developed in order to achieve the rules of intellectual property rights and all related steps and procedures during the stages of work and development.
Major al-Rashed briefed the participants that the jacket is part of Qatar’s strategy to ensure maximum protection and safety for expatriate labour working on its territory in different projects.
The smart jacket features a helmet cooling system, and contains a chip that gives signals indicating the condition of the worker if exposed to any risk such as excessive stress or increased heart rate or abnormal breathing.
The sensors in the smart jacket give a warning to the control room that shows the worker’s condition, and therefore move toward him as it also contains a tracking system so that the worker’s location can be easily identified.
The smart jacket includes voice dialling, operates via solar power and does not need to be recharged from any power source.
Lekhwiya has successfully developed and innovated a range of security devices through high-tech technologies that contribute to the performance of security and excellence in work, depending on the latest technological developments. (QNA)
