Karwan-e-Urdu Qatar (KUQ) recently held the Jashn-e-Rahat Indori and Aalami Mushaira. The Urdu poetry symposium was organised in the auditorium of DPS-MIS School at Al Wakrah.
Many well-known Urdu poets from Qatar, India and Pakistan participated in the mushaira. The poets with their brilliant poetry captivated the audience as a good number of Urdu speaking expatriates attended the programme. The poets presented beautiful couplets, ghazals, and nazms.
KUQ General Secretary Mohammad Shahid Khan hosted the programme. This mushaira was chaired by Dr Rahat Indori, who is a world renowned Urdu poet. Dr Mohammad Aleem, Third Secretary of Embassy of India in Qatar, graced the event as the chief guest. Mohammad Atiq was the guest of honour at the occasion.
KUQ Chairman Azim Abbas, delivered the official welcome address. The chairman, besides giving details about achievements and future plans of the KUQ, presented works and accomplishmetns of Dr Rahat Indori. The KUQ presented mementos to all poets for their contributions in promotion of the Urdu language across the world.
For his contributions, Dr Rahat Indori was presented The Life Time Achievement Award along with a cash prize of 100,000 Indian rupees.
Mohammad Atiq was also given Life Time Achievement Award. He is chairman of Patron Committee of Majlis Farogh e Urdu Adab Qatar. He was honoured for his persistent patronage of Urdu cause in Qatar.
The event also marked the launch of a new book by Mohammad Shahid Khan, titled Maulana Ali Miyan Nadwi; Yadon Ke Jharoke Se.     
Poets who entertained the audience included Ateeq Anzar from Qatar, Iqbal Ashar, from Delhi, Abrar Kashif from Maharashtra, Dr Liaqat Jafri from Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Ambrin Hasib Amber from Karachi, Sharaf Nanparwi from Delhi, Dinesh Bawra from Mumbai, Satlaj Rahat from Madhya Pradesh, Nadeem Mahir, Qaisar Masood, Dr Wasi Bastavi, and Rashid Alam  Rashid from Qatar.
