The number of Indian expatriates in the country has reached an all time high of 691,000, revealed the Indian envoy.
Speaking at a function on the occasion of ‘Bharat Utsav - A Journey through Festive Celebrations of India', Indian ambassador P Kumaran also thanked the government of Qatar for the great support extended to the community.
“We are the largest expatriate community in Qatar with the number of Indians reaching 691,000 as of now. The Indian community would like to express our gratitude to the leadership of Qatar for the great patronage given to the country,” he noted.
The envoy also said that there will be some high-level participation of leading performers from India to celebrate Qatar-India Year of Culture which will be marked next year. “However, the whole schedule will be finalised only towards the end of this year,” added Kumaran.
