Qatar Airways is the official airline partner of the ‘International Chamber Music Concert Series for Peace and Unity in Qatar,’ which will see renowned artists from around the world performing in Doha.
The series of world-class concerts is being organised by the Chamber Music Society of Qatar and supported by the embassies of France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, the UK and the Netherlands.
Each embassy will host its own concert throughout 2018 and 2019 in Qatar, aimed at promoting music and culture from their country and inspiring the local community in Qatar.
The event will begin today with a concert hosted by the French embassy in Doha and the French Institute in Qatar, which will take place at the Mondrian Doha.
The concert will include a performance by Ambroisine Bre, a Parisian mezzo-soprano and a rising global star, along with the prolific concert pianist and artistic director of the event, Sonja Park.
The two talents will be joined by pro musicians from the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) – violinist Dmitri Torchinski and cellist Hassan Moataz El Molla. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
“As the national carrier of Qatar, we are truly pleased to be able to welcome such globally renowned artists to Doha, and to provide a showcase for their talent through this magnificent concert series,” Qatar Airways’ marketing and corporate communications senior vice president Salam al-Shawa said.
“Each concert will provide a musical journey into the unique sounds of each country. We invite everyone to attend the spectacular event at the Mondrian Hotel Doha and witness the inaugural concert of this beautiful series,” she added.
The concert series has been curated by Park, a globally acclaimed concert pianist and founder of ‘Moving Young Artists’ (MYA), a non-profit foundation and cultural development programme set up in Qatar.
MYA aims to use the power of music to inspire rising local talents in the pursuit of their artistic potential and to develop music education programmes for children, particularly those with special needs.
A donations box will be available at the concert, with all funds raised being donated to MYA foundation.
Qatar Airways has a history of working with artists to embed music into its brand. The award-winning airline proudly works with globally renowned composer and artist Dana Alfardan, who is the official composer for Qatar Airways Group.
Alfardan composed a number of highly successful pieces for the airline, including the composition and 2016 performance of ‘The Beginning’ for Hamad International Airport, its official theme song, and Qatar Airways’ boarding music.
The award-winning airline has also sponsored several musical events, including the recent concert held as part of Francophonie Days, an annual celebration of the culture of the Francophone world in March 2018.
