A team of Qatar Academy’s “outstanding” students will be flying to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in October to prepare select students of Lebawi Academy (International Leadership Academy of Ethiopia - ILAE) for the ‘THIMUN Qatar Conference’ in Doha in January, 2019, with the support of QIIB.
QIIB sponsorship of the Qatar Academy students’ initiative will help fly some 23 student members of the MUN Club of the Lebawi Academy to Doha for the ‘THIMUN Qatar Conference’ from January 22-25 next year.
The theme of THIMUN Qatar 2019 is Sustainable Development Goal 16-Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. All committees have one issue that ties to the conference theme.
Qatar Academy - Lebawi School tie-up will be initiated in two parts.
During part one, a team of Qatar Academy students and faculty will fly to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in October this year and prepare the Lebawi Academy students for the Model United Nations (MUN) conference and help the MUN Club at the Lebawi Academy launch and organise conferences in future.
This is the first time that Ethiopian students will be getting such tools and resources to prepare and develop programs and events for young people to seek through discussion, negotiation, debate, and personal action, solutions to the various problems of the world.
And during part two, the Lebawi Academy students will reach Doha in January 2019 to attend the ‘THIMUN Qatar Conference’ in Doha in January, 2019.
The MUN conferences bring students together from around the world to learn and share ideas from a diverse set of experiences and backgrounds.
The Qatar Academy students who will be visiting Addis Ababa include Ahmad al-Naimi, Shoug al-Tamimi, Aisha al-Mansouri, Sama Ayoub and Prkriti Tandon.
