At least 15 people died in southern Pakistan on Monday when a lorry rammed into a coach, a police official said.

 "At least 15 people including women and children have died in the accident," said Ghulam Qadir, a spokesman for Mityari district where the accident took place.

Qadir said that the dead included five women and three children. Another nine people were injured, he added.

The incident took place during early hours when a lorry rammed into a bus full of people that was stationary. Those killed and injured are from the same family and were returning from a wedding party.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), around 9,000 road accidents are reported every year killing more than 4,000 people on average.
