Save the Dream, the global non-profit movement that aims to promote and protect the values of sport in young people, has joined forces with Guizhou Heng Feng Football Club (HFFC), one of the Super League teams of China Football Association, to announce the beginning of a long-term co-operation to identify and develop best “sport for development” practices to empower youth and assist underprivileged communities through sports.
The Majlis Qatar hospitality zone at FIFA 2018, the flagship installation of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), which also supported the Save the Dream Legends Match, provided the backdrop to the agreement signing between Save the Dream and Guizhou Heng Feng Football Club in the presence of Save the Dream ambassadors and football legends such as Christian Karembeu, David Trezeguet, Didier Drogba, Honey Thaljieh and Karina LeBlanc.
As part of this co-operation, Save the Dream and HFFC will organise a joint international forum on CSR in football with the objectives of gathering most updated knowledge and provide inspiration to the work of Guizhou Wen Xiaoting Foundation, the CSR arm of HFFC, a press statement noted.
Massimiliano Montanari, executive director of Save the Dream, said: “We are delighted to form this partnership with Guizhou Heng Feng Football Club to reach out to young people in China to create positive dialogue and inspire local youth and communities through the unifying power of sports.”
Wen Xiaoting, president of HFFC, added: “Sports plays an incredibly powerful role in the lives of young people, inspiring them to overcome barriers to reach their true potential. We are happy to be a part of this agreement. Stating from Guiyang, we can spread our impact to all China and with the support of the society as a whole, we can help to change the life of all those needed children and youngsters.”
Save the Dream works closely with the Olympic Movement and in official partnership with key international organisations such as Unicef, the UN High-Commissioner for Refugees, UN Alliance of Civilisations and Unesco.
