The upcoming ‘Qatar Germany Business and Investment Forum’ scheduled next month in Berlin aims to highlight major projects to be implemented in Qatar and Germany in the commercial, economic, investment, and construction fields.

The ninth edition of the forum, organised by ‘The National Committee for Organising the Business and Investment in Qatar Forum’, will be held on September 7 under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.

In its website, the committee said the forum will be held in collaboration with the Permanent Committee for Organising Conferences, Qatar Businessmen Association, Qatar Chamber, Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Arab German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Euro-Mediterranean Arab Association, and the German Near and Middle East Association.

The committee said this year’s forum will tackle issues, specifically the “prominent role played by the state of Qatar for its economic development.” During a series of sessions, the forum will discuss topics on the financial, investment, industrial development, economic, education, tourism, and sports sectors.

According to the committee, each edition of the forum attracts more than 1,000 participants from government institutions and the private sector. In 2013, Berlin already served as the venue for the forum.

This year, Germany was selected as one of Qatar’s largest trading partners where the volume of trade between the two countries reached about QR4.2bn in 2017, the committee said.

The committee added: “Qatar’s outstanding investment activities in Germany, which amounts to about $25bn dollars, and includes vital projects in various sectors, are one of the reasons that prove the long-term economic and financial cooperation between the two countries.

“The presence of the German companies in Qatar and their involvement in the implementation of large projects, with a value of investments around QR309.4bn confirms the trust and depth of the relationship between the two countries.”

The committee noted that the forum is the premier economic promotional event organised by Qatar abroad in major economic capitals of the world, including Paris, New York, Berlin, and was hosted last year in the UK “where it has achieved the targeted results both in terms of presence from both the Qatari and British sides and in terms of results and investment returns.”
