Twenty-one people were killed in north-west China after the roof of a coal mine collapsed Saturday, state media reported.
The death toll went up from 19 victims after rescuers found the bodies of two trapped miners on Sunday morning, Xinhua news agency reported.
The state agency said the accident occurred at the Lijiagou coal mine of the Baiji Mining Co in the city of Shenmu, Shanxi province, around 4:30 pm.
At that time, 87 people were working underground. Sixty-six people were lifted to safety after the collapse, Xinhua said, adding that an investigation into the accident's cause was underway.
China is the world's largest producer and consumer of coal and its mines and are regarded as some of the most dangerous in the world.
Xinhua reported 217 mine accidents in 2017 with 375 fatalities, in the latest available data.
