At least three people were killed in Sindh early yesterday when a three-storey residential building collapsed in the port city of Karachi, an official said.
The death toll could increase, rescue official Shayan Shah said.
Rescue workers are still searching for survivors.
The cause of the collapse was not yet known.
Provincial Labour Minister Ghulam Murtaza Baloch told Dawn News TV that the body of the owner of the house has been recovered from the building, which housed around 20 people.
The rescue workers are avoiding the use of heavy machinery in the search for survivors.
Local media reported that the building was some 30 years old and undergoing renovation work.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took note of the incident and directed authorities to supervise the rescue operation.
