HE Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) Hassan al-Thawadi has praised the signing of an agreement to operate and provide services for a number of the country's housing units between the SC and Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, which aims to provide the cadres and tools necessary to operate the housing units until the end of 2022.
HE al-Thawadi said, "This groundbreaking agreement is another example of how Qatar's approach is truly historic not only in terms of setting the highest delivery standards, but also for legacy planning. By making full use of existing residential apartments and villas in Qatar, we can offer visitors a range of affordable and comfortable options; while also ensuring we have a sustainable hotel market that does not leave Qatar with excess permanent hotel rooms post-2022."
The agreement will see Accor provide personnel to operate what will be the largest serviced real estate operation in the world, and include front office (check-in/check-out), operational supplies and equipment as well as housekeeping services, among others. The agreement will make use of the country's full real estate portfolio, further illustrating Qatar's commitment to sustainability.
He added, "By making full use of the villas and apartments already existing in Qatar, we will be able to provide a variety of convenient and comfortable options for visitors, while ensuring the sustainability of the hotel market in Qatar, ensuring that there are no hotel rooms that exceed the country's needs after 2022."
Yasir al-Jamal, Chairman of the SC's Operations Office and Vice-Chairman, Technical Delivery Office, said: "The signing represents a significant step in our promise to deliver a wide range of affordable and exciting options to visitors travelling to Qatar. This agreement will enhance the overall experience for every visitor staying in the country and ensure that everyone receives the truly memorable, hospitable welcome for which Qatar and the Arab world is renowned."
He added, "The benefits of signing this agreement with the world-leading Accor group of hotels will not be limited to enhancing the experience of all visitors during their stay in Qatar, but will extend its impact to ensure that everyone receives hospitality and welcome that days do not erase from memory, which is Qatar and the Arab world is famous for.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accor Sebastien Bazin said, "The entire team is thrilled to have been selected to manage and provide services to Qatar's exciting real estate portfolio. We share the region's excitement for the coming year and look forward to welcoming visitors, and ensuring they have a comfortable and memorable stay in the country."
Chief of Tournament Experience, SC, Khaled Ali al-Mawlawi expressed happiness with the event and said signing the agreement with one of the largest brands in the world of hospitality comes to serve more than 60,000 housing units until the end of 2022.
For her part, Communications Executive Director of SC Fatma al-Nuaimi confirmed that this agreement complements the steps taken by the Supreme Committee to provide fully furnished housing units, and the accompanying integrated hotel services that allow visitors to enjoy the experience of staying in Qatar, and to learn about the generosity of hospitality and welcome throughout their stay.

Al-Nuaimi said this agreement "also contributes to providing multiple accommodation options for Qatar's guests according to a sustainable system that ensures that no useless hotels or housing units are built after the tournament in light of our efforts to benefit from the real estate and housing available in the country."
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani witnessed the signing of an agreement to operate and provide services for a number of housing units for the state between the SC and Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, which aims to provide the cadres and tools necessary to operate the housing units until the end of 2022.
Al-Jamal signed the agreement alongside Bazin and Katara Hospitality's Acting Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Humphries.
The agreement was signed in the presence of HE the Minister of Finance and Chairman of Katara Hospitality Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, HE al-Thawadi, a number of senior officials and representatives of the executing company.
