Qatar Tourism hosted its first mega travel trade familiarisation trip this week, welcoming 250 tour operators from 29 countries across 17 core markets around the world, to showcase Qatar as a leading holiday destination ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
The event was attended by HE Akbar al-Baker, chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, as well as international travel and tour operators.
The evening included a cultural programme with live entertainment, with attendees able to discover traditional handicrafts, art and entertainment, while experiencing Qatar’s world-class hospitality. Guests also saw Qatar Tourism’s new destination film, 'Experience a World Beyond', which features CGI characters that showcase Qatar and its offerings.
HE al-Baker said, “Qatar Travel Mart has provided us with a unique opportunity to introduce to the world the crème of our tourism industry, the private sector partners who bring our experiences to life for visitors. Our ‘Experience a World Beyond’ campaign targets 17 top visitor source markets for Qatar and features nine characters designed with CGI technology. With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 just a year away, our short-term priority is to cater to the expected 1.5mn visitors and cultivate them into future ambassadors for our destination through exceptional experiences.”

Together with stakeholders, QT continues to enhance Qatar's calendar of festivals and events, with the Qatar International Food Festival, Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition, Qatar Balloon Festival and Qatar Live just some of the exciting events taking place in Qatar over the next month.
The first-of-its-kind exhibition in the country, Qatar Travel Mart (QTM 2021) supports and strengthen the competitiveness of Qatar’s tourism industry. This edition featured 140 exhibitors representing 34 countries. Bringing together sector stakeholders, QTM provides a platform for local and international sector businesses to collaborate and forge new relationships while promoting the destination.
