Qatar University (QU)’s College of Dental Medicine has celebrated its first annual White Coat Ceremony.
The event recognised the first generation of QU dental medicine students who completed their first transitional year.
The ceremony symbolised their responsibility towards the patients, as they recited the medical oath and received their white coats.
Addressing the ceremony, college dean Prof Mandeep Singh Duggal said that it is the newest QU college and the first college of dental education in Qatar.
"After sharing a common first year with medicine, the students who chose to study dentistry are now starting on a five-year journey to become highly educated and skilled dental surgeons,” he said. “They will be a unique group of students, as they will be the first dental surgeons to be educated and trained wholly in Qatar.”
The QU’s College of Dental Medicine is the fourth college under QU Health and the tenth college for the QU.
The curriculum incorporates pedagogical approaches and advanced e-learning and learning technologies that foster students’ active learning and critical thinking.
