The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Tuesday reported 100 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, and recorded 143 recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 362,094.
In a statement, MoPH said all the new confirmed cases were in the community and no cases among travellers have been reported.
It pointed out that 6,707,793 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination programme, adding that 2,255 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours.
The ministry further added that 1,502,202 Covid-19 booster vaccine doses have been administered to date, and 89% of the total population was now fully vaccinated with two doses.
In its statement, the MoPH explained that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines, with the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with Covid-19 being either unvaccinated or having had their second dose more than six months ago and have not received a booster dose.
It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus continues to decrease, noting that the support of the community in adhering to the government restrictions and COVID-19 precautions, in addition to the high vaccination rate, have played a significant role in reaching this stage and stabilizing the number of new daily cases.
The MOPH called for caution and continued adherence to restrictions and precautionary and preventive measures, and to contact 16000 helpline immediately if anyone suffering from COVID-19 symptoms, as early detection of the disease makes it easier to obtain appropriate treatment and increases the recovery chances.(QNA)
