HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution Dr Mutlaq bin Majed al-Qahtani has expressed the appreciation of Qatar of the High Transitional Authorities in Chad's approval of its call for the postponement of the comprehensive national dialogue, to be held in the capital, N'Djamena, on May 10, QNA reported from Doha.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Sunday, HE al-Mutlaq said the call for the postponement came on the basis of the current data in the Doha negotiations, which are progressing at good pace and making tangible progress, in order to give the participating parties more time to reach a peace agreement in preparation for the convening of the comprehensive national dialogue in N'Djamena.
He reiterated Qatar's full support for Chad's efforts in this political process, to achieve the aspirations of its people for peace, security and stability, and Qatar's appreciation for the commitment of the Military Council and the Chadian government to the course of the Doha peace negotiations in Chad.
Earlier, Qatar, as a mediator in the ongoing Chadian peace negotiations in Doha, announced that the negotiations, which were launched in Doha on the 13th of last March, are progressing at a good pace and making tangible progress, QNA reported.
In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Transitional Military Council of Chad to postpone the comprehensive national dialogue, to be held in the capital, N'Djamena, on May 10.
