HE the Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari attended the annual meetings of the boards of governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held in Washington, DC, from October 10-16. The minister also met with Dr Mahmoud Mohiuddin, executive director at IMF. During the meetings, bilateral relations were discussed, including topics on the latest regional and global economic developments. The WBG and IMF annual meetings brought together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organisations, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness. Also featured were seminars, regional briefings, press conferences, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world's financial system.
