The 5th Gulf Quality Conference with the theme “Quality in the service of the community”, will be held in Doha on March 28.
The conference is organised by Gulf Development Centre (GDC) with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) as the platinum sponsor and the participation of representatives from GCC countries.
“The Ministry of Interior is keen to take part in the events that serve the public interest. It is one of the main supporters of this conference because we believe in the importance of quality in delivering public services to the people. It is also a good opportunity to benefit from the regional and international experiences of others in the field,” said Colonel Abdul Rahman Majid al-Sulaiti, director of MoI Strategic Planning Department, at a press meeting yesterday.
He said that MoI will take part in the conference by presenting a study titled “Comprehensive quality and community service: The experience of MoI”. It would include a brief about the E-services of the Ministry available through the MoI website and the MoI departments that received the quality certification ISO2008-9001 such as the Communication Department and the Human Rights Department.
GDP president Mohamed Saleh al-Kuwari pointed out that “the Ministry of Interior has been a pioneer in delivering quality services to the public and the application of quality systems in all its services.”
“We want to spread the culture of quality in the society. All items should get quality certifications,” he added indicating that he means individual items rather than company certification. Products have to comply with national standards of quality to guarantee that consumers get good products and open the door for exporting GCC products.
Al-Kuwari stressed the effective role that prizes for quality play in raising the quality standards of the services and products of both private and public entities. These prizes for quality include Qatar prize, Dubai prize, King Abdulaziz prize, and Abu Dhabi prize for distinguished governmental performance. He explained that prizes should be instrumental in raising awareness of quality standards.
The GDP president highly praised the Metrash service by MoI. He said: “The Ministry of Interior in this way thinks of the client and updates him in a unique way that has been unmatched elsewhere. Accordingly, it makes services easy for the client.”
He further called all business leaders and university students to participate actively in the conference to exchange experiences with the Qatari and Gulf companies that has been successful in implementing international quality systems.
Captain Abul Rahman al-Taweel, head of Quality Systems Department at MoI, said that quality is one of the main foundations of MoI strategy and there have been constant efforts to update the Ministry services and evaluate them accordingly.
