Maersk Oil Qatar and Qatar Diabetes Association have teamed up with the Aspire Zone to hold a sports day for their staff and family members on National Sports Day, which falls on February 14.
The event will be held as part of the ‘Action On Diabetes’ partnership that was launched last November by Maersk Oil, Qatar Diabetes Association, the Supreme Council of Health, Hamad Hospital and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk.
The Action On Diabetes partners will be joined by around 100 young children from Qatar, the Middle East and North Africa region who will be attending a Qatar Diabetes Association camp in Doha.
Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani, Maersk Oil Qatar’s deputy managing director said: “We are very proud of the sports day launched by the government of Qatar to create this proactive approach to sports. Maersk Oil is equally dedicated to contributing to this awareness by encouraging healthy living choices through the Action On Diabetes initiative that we have launched with our partners”.
Dr Abdulla al-Hamaq from Qatar Diabetes Association said sport is an essential part of diabetes treatment and that – more generally – sport is important in improving the health and well-being of the society.
The event will be supported by Aspire Zone and two leading fitness companies in the country, Fitness First and Boot Camp Qatar. More information about Action on Diabetes could be had from
