HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani being accorded a red-carpet welcome on arrival in Amman

HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan and Hamas leader Khalid Mishal here yesterday. The meeting was attended by the members of the official delegation accompanying the Heir Apparent.
On the Jordanian side, the meeting was attended by Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, Imed Fakhoori, director of the King’s Office and Lieutenant General Meshaal Zaben, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Hussein al-Atoum and members of the delegation accompanying the head of Hamas’ political bureau.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the latest developments in the Palestinian arena besides a number of issues of mutual concern.
Earlier, the Heir Apparent held separate talks with King Abdullah.
The Heir Apparent conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani to the Jordanian monarch and his best wishes for more progress and prosperity to the relations between the two countries.
King Abdullah reciprocated the Emir’s greetings and wishes.
The talks dealt with the bilateral ties and means of promoting them in various fields, the latest regional developments besides a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Later the Heir Apparent, accompanied by King Abdullah, visited The Jordanian Special Operations Forces’ Counter-Terrorism Battalion.
The Heir Apparent was briefed on the battalion’s nature of work. He attended a live show on how the battalion combats riots, protects sniper and special units during missions. Sheikh Tamim also watched a helicopter show staged by battalion.
The Heir Apparent was accompanied by a high-ranking official delegation.
Jordanian Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, accompanied by high-ranking Jordanian officials, also accompanied the Heir Apparent.
Later King Abdullah hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Heir Apparent, Hamas leader Khalid Mishal and their accompanying delegations.
The luncheon banquet was attended by Prince Ali bin al-Hussein and a number of senior Jordanian officials.
Earlier on arrival in Amman the Heir Apparent was welcomed by the Jordanian Crown Prince al-Hussein bin Abdullah and Ali bin al-Hussein at Queen Alia International Airport.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mishaal Mohamed al-Zaban, Amman Governor Samir al-Mibayideen, Amman’s Acting Secretary Abdul Halim al-Kaylani, Commander of the Security and Protection Unit Brigadier Nayef al-Arqan, Commander of the Central Region Abdul Hadi al-Dhamour, Charge d’Affaires at the Qatari embassy in Amman Saad Abdullah al-Mahmoud and the embassy staff were also on hand to welcome the Heir Apparent.
In a statement he gave upon arrival in Jordan the Heir Apparent said: “I would like to express my pleasure over this visit which comes as part of our keenness on consultation and exchange of views on developments in the Arab and international arenas, matters of mutual concern, means of supporting and enhancing our close relations and the constructive co-operation between our countries in various fields”.
Later in the evening the Heir Apparent left Amman wrapping up a one-day working visit.
Sheikh Tamim sent a message to King Abdullah in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome accorded to him and his accompanying delegation during the visit.
