HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani inaugurated yesterday Panda House in Al Khor. HE Sheikh Khalid was briefed on all the facilities available to visitors, particularly FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 guests, the official Qatar News Agency reported. HE the Prime Minister was also briefed on sustainability and the technology used to provide a suitable environment to the pandas, in line with the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), in addition to the standards adopted to conserve energy and the environment.
HE the Prime Minister was accompanied by a number of ministers, the Chinese ambassador to Qatar, and ranking officials from the Ministry of Municipality and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipality has invited the public to visit Panda House and enjoy watching the two giant pandas – Suhail and Thuraya. Qatar became the first country in the Middle East to have giant pandas, and the 20th in the world, when Suhail and Thuraya arrived in the country in October.
They will now be available for public viewing after the conclusion of the quarantine period. Visiting hours at Panda House will be open from 10am to 6pm. Currently, tickets can be booked only through the Oun application. Ticket prices, according to the app, are QR50 for adults and QR25 for individuals under 14 years.
