Qatar University (QU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Sports and Youth to enhance co-operation and benefit from the joint capabilities of both parties. The MoU includes working in the field of developing, organising, managing and implementing training programmes and courses to qualify cadres working in sports professions. The signing was attended by HE the Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanim al-Ali, QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham, College of Education dean Dr Hessa H al-Thani, QU vice-president for Student Affairs Dr Eiman Mustafawi as well as a number of professors in the College of Education. The MoU was signed by QU’s vice president for Academic Affairs, Dr Omar al-Ansari and the Ministry of Sports and Youth's Sports Affairs director, Issa al-Harami. The pact paves the way for both parties to work together to develop certifications for the accreditation of fitness trainers and cadres working in sports professions, including the fulfillment of their basic professional competence based on a specific international standard. The MoU comes as part of the belief in the vital and effective role of QU’s co-operation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, represented in this agreement by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, as QU is keen to continue playing a role in enabling the various sectors of the state to benefit from its resources and expertise to implement its strategy and achieve its goals.
