An Indian politician, who attended some of the World Cup matches, has praised the way Qatar organised the mega sporting event and says it is a model for others to follow.
“The Doha Metro has been the central nerve that connected the stadiums and made the travelling astonishingly easy and simple,” T J Saneesh Kumar Joseph, a current member of the legislative assembly of Kerala, told Gulf Times.
Representing the constituency of Chalakudy in central Kerala, Joseph paid a visit to Gulf Times and interacted with the staff and shared his impressions about Qatar and the World Cup.
“Qatar has arranged world class facilities for the World Cup. They are simply superb and the access to the stadiums are flawless and fantastic. People could move freely and seamlessly reach the stadiums which is something great considering the magnitude of the tournament. This is a real model for other countries that host mega events,” he continued.
Joseph who is a first time legislator is also on his maiden visit to Qatar said that the World Cup was also an opportunity for enjoying the Arabian hospitality. “It has been a great experience for me as I am overwhelmed by the hospitality of the country and its people. The people are so welcoming and it has been a great cultural exchange for me,” he pointed out.
The legislator also disclosed that he plans Athirappally Water Falls, a major tourist spot in his constituency to be transformed into top destination of international standard. “The vision is to make Athirapally, a world class destination such as the Niagara Falls,” he added.
