As the World Cup wrapped up on Qatar National Day, Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD) hosted various activities to commemorate the final day of the month-long football event as well as the nation’s history.
MDD offered various cultural activities for its visitors and fans to celebrate the nation’s longstanding, rich history in a city where the past meets modernity. A wide range of events brought families and guests from all cultural backgrounds together to celebrate the National Day as well as the conclusion of the World Cup.
In a press statement, Maryam al-Jassem, manager of PR and Communication, at Msheireb Properties, stated: “The whole world celebrates Qatar for its culture and tolerance of its traditions and the success of the ending of a major football event. We are proud to be part of the history that Qatar made with a successful hosting of the World Cup and the events we can offer for everyone to celebrate. We are excited to see what the future holds for the city.”
Located at the heart of Doha, visitors to MDD enjoyed a distinctive festive atmosphere through traditional performances such as the Qatari Arda folkloric dance at Al Barahat and Daffah performances in the tram.
MDD distributed Qatari flags to the public along with Karak, Arabic coffee and traditional Arabic sweets in the Sikka area, highlighting the welcoming hospitality of Qatar. In addition, Barahat Msheireb screened the final match of the World Cup tournament and hosted the celebrations of the fans and audience.
