The Directorate General of Civil Defence honoured the support forces that joined the directorate during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament in a ceremony that was held on Tuesday in the presence of a host of officers and officials at the Ministry of Interior, along with the representatives of the awarding entities. The listed of the honoured entities included the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), the Central Firefighting Unit, along with several companies supporting the Directorate General of Civil Defence, in addition to Kuwait Fire Force.
Director-General of the General Directorate of Civil Defense Brigadier General Hamad Othman al-Dehaimi thanked all participants for the efforts they exerted that have contributed to making a successful security of the tournament, adding that the success made by the tournament is, likewise, a success for all, and represents a consolidation of the principle of co-operation, fraternity and share of expertise among all participating entities, underscoring that the participation of the support forces with the civil Defense was successful.
For his part, commander of Kuwait Fire Force Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Mahmoud Selim affirmed that the participation of the force comes as support forces in backing the friendly Qatar with professional human elements specialised in the areas of search, rescue, firefighting and hazardous materials, along with special boats operating in search, rescue and firefighting operations, expressing his pleasure to participate in securing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament which is one of the most secure, safe and global model of tournaments.
