With the support of the people in Qatar and as part of the economic empowerment projects, Qatar Charity's (QC) office in Sudan delivered equipment for the bakery project to the sponsored orphans’ mothers and women most in need.
Training courses were held at the Saaed Center for Vocational Training affiliated with the Mycetoma Research Centre (MRC) at the University of Khartoum. A total of 17 women benefited from the bakery projects. Ovens, mixers, kneaders, and gas cylinders were delivered to each family.
Prof Ahmed Hassan, director of the MRC, and supervisor of the Vocational Training Centre welcomed the co-operation with QC in the fields of training and said: “We welcome the humanitarian co-operation with Qatar Charity for the benefit of the most vulnerable groups in society - mycetoma patients whose limbs have been amputated."
The sponsored orphans' mothers expressed their gratitude to the people of Qatar for supporting them with all the necessary equipment for the bakery industry.
Umm Muhammad, a mother of three orphans, said that the economic empowerment project granted to her by Qatar Charity will generate income to help her bear the expenses of education and a decent life for the children.
Sondos Mudawi, a mother of three orphans, said that she used to make and sell baked goods with very modest equipment, but she is now able to expand her production and marketing of baked goods after the benevolent people in Qatar provided her with all the equipment she needs, through QC.
"I hope this project generates income for me to help meet the requirements of life and that of my three orphan daughters," she added.
