The ban on the use of quad bikes outside the fenced parts at the Sealine Area has been extended to maintain the safety and security of the users and the visitors, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
The ban was earlier enforced during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to enhance the safety of visitors and allow tourists to enjoy a unique experience of the local wild environment.
The working hours of the shops that rent out quad bikes have also been set from 10am to 11pm, the daily explained.
Mohamed Abdulwahab, quad bike fan, said the ban is a good decision but it should be only applicable for riders under 21. He suggested that introducing more safety rules and regulations, such as making it mandatory to wear a helmet and rental shops to provide a guide to accompany the riders, is needed.
Mohamed al-Qahtan, quadbike rental shop owner, said that the ban on renting out quad bikes after sun set causes big loss of business. "The powerful quad bikes are not suitable to drive within the limits of fenced areas, as they become unsafe there," he opined.
Mohamed Ibrahim, another quad bike fan, said that the fenced areas are suitable for those under 21 but not for the older ones, as many of them can have excellent control over the vehicle while riding through the sand dunes.
