The Shura Council held on Monday its regular weekly session, chaired by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.
At the beginning of the session, the Council expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the continued attempts of the Israeli government to Judaise the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning of the danger of settlement development activities on the peace process and the two-state solution.
The Shura Council pointed out that these Israeli practices are a clear violation of the rights of the Palestinian people, and of international covenants and resolutions related to the status of the city of Jerusalem.
The Shura Council called on the Arab Parliament, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the parliaments of the world to take a stand on the settlement policy, as a flagrant assault and a flagrant violation of the basic rights of the Palestinian people.
HE Secretary General of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadhala, read, after that, the agenda of the session, and the minutes of the previous session were approved.
The Council reviewed the report of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee regarding a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (6) of 2014 regulating real estate development, and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
The Shura Council also reviewed the report of the participation of the Shura Council delegation in the parliamentary meeting held on the sidelines of the 27th session of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Sharm El-Sheikh on Nov 13.
The aforementioned meeting discussed a number of issues related to climate change, and reached a document that emphasised the role of parliamentarians in the global efforts to address the phenomenon of climate change, which poses a threat to the planet, by working within parliaments to adopt laws that support mitigation of the effects of climate change, and to strengthen the capabilities of institutions in the field of risk analysis related to that.
