The ongoing Mahaseel Festival continued to draw big crowds Saturday, offering quality local products, such as vegetables, poultry, meat and dairy items, at affordable prices.
The festival also offers flowers and gardening equipment to visitors.
Through its offerings, the festival highlights the diverse range of agricultural and other products made in Qatar.
“The quality, range and prices of vegetables are among the major attractions, and we enjoy the atmosphere here while walking through the festival site and visiting the stalls,” one of the visitors told Gulf Times Saturday.
Varieties of organic and farm-fresh products such as eggplant, tomato, cabbage, cauliflower, mushroom, cucumber, capsicum, broccoli, courgette, beans, gourd, peas, and chili are available at the stalls.
They also sell different types of locally produced honey along with dates and date syrup.
“Indeed, Qatar is witnessing good progress in vegetable production,” said another visitor. “The festival reflects the passion of local farmers and highlights the diversity of the local vegetable production.”
The stalls selling flowers and ornamental plants are evoking a good response from visitors.
These offer bouquets of roses and a variety of other flowers and ornamental plants, along with vegetable and fruit seedlings.
They also sell agriculture equipment required for the upkeep and beautification of farmland and gardens.
There were many buyers for different types of rose bouquets and ornamental shrubs to decorate houses and offices.
Visitors, including families, could be seen taking pictures amid the green spaces at the festival site, decorated with flowers.
There are a number of accompanying attractions in this year's Mahaseel Festival, such as art workshops and different activities, providing an opportunity for the family to shop and spend quality time.
The workshops help to educate children and adults about the importance of agriculture.
Children can also enjoy the rides at the venue, while the eateries offer tea and coffee along with traditional Qatari beverages and breads.
The seventh edition of the Mahaseel Festival is being held in the southern area of Katara.
The festival has been organised by Katara Cultural Village Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and the Qatari farmers' forum.
It will run daily from 9am-9pm until January 28, followed by the Mahaseel Market that will be held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays every week until mid-April.
