HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi Wednesday issued a ministerial decision approving the school calendar for the next four academic years (2023-24 to 2026-27), the official Qatar News Agency reports. The ministry said the decision came in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030, especially the pillar of human development through developing Qatar's population so that they can build a prosperous society. The full calendar, which is available in Arabic at https://www.edu.gov.qa/ar/Pages/pubschoolsdefault.aspx?ItemID=175, shows that students will attend classes for the 2023-24 academic year from August 27, 2023. The mid-term break will be from October 22-26, while the end-of-semester vacation will begin on December 24. Students will resume classes from January 8, 2024.The calendar for the next four years has taken into account a balance in schooling days in line with international standards and global education systems, as well as providing the appropriate vacations for students and teachers and holding the second round examinations at the beginning of the school year instead of taking them during the summer vacation. It was also taken into account to invest in the first week of the first semester of each academic year, by allocating three days for the purposes of training and professional development of employees, as well as to allocate Sundays in the second semester for the purposes of vocational training and professional development of employees, provided that students begin school on Monday. The decision includes cancelling the second semester's midterm vacation and replacing it with the first semester's midterm vacation, (one week in the month of October) after the mid-semester exams, to allow students and teachers to take a break before resuming their activities. The second semester includes official holidays such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.The school calendar allows adjustments in line with the requirements, developments and learning standards with regard to the approved schooling time.On this occasion, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education affirmed its keenness to protect the interest of students and ensure the success of the educational process to achieve its goals.
