Director of the Doha-based GCC Criminal Information Centre to Combat Drugs (GCC-CICCD) Brig Gen Issa Saeed Zayed al-Kuwari confirmed that the centre has achieved great milestones in counter-narcotics operation, thanks to the significant co-operation among the member states. During his meeting with a Saudi delegation headed by Director-General of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control Maj Gen Mohamed bin Saeed al-Qarni, Brig Gen al-Kuwari said that what has been achieved in combating narcotics comes as a result of fruitful co-operation among anti-drug agencies in GCC states and GCC-CICCD, in light of the sound directives, and unwavering support from the GCC interior ministers. For his part, Maj Gen al-Qarni asserted the criticality of Gulf and international co-operation and co-ordination in countering the security challenges in all fields, specially in the area of combating narcotics and organised crimes, that primarily require Gulf synergistic efforts to combat them, in light of the steadfast and accelerating pace of techniques the criminal cartels are pursuing in planning and carrying out their illicit acts, in addition to the growing utilisation of modern technology in this field. During the visit, the Saudi delegation got familiarised with the centre's efforts, activities, and accomplishments in the area of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
