The department of guidance and counselling at MES Indian School organised an interactive session for class X students recently, in order to provide support and guidance in matters pertaining to making the right choice of streams in their higher education and career options.
Principal Hameeda Kadar spoke in her introductory address about the various streams and briefed the students on the importance of choosing the appropriate stream to build a suitable career in life. She emphasised the need to get the help of counsellors to make the right choice.
Jisha A G from the department explained the streams available at the school and the careers related to each stream. The topics discussed during the session included 'Discover your aptitude, interest and personality', 'Don’t copy your friends', 'Take parents' guidance', 'Seek the help of counsellors', 'Explore work areas', 'Subjects offered, 'Career options in each stream' and 'CBSE career portal registration'.
Blessy Mary (head of the department, Computer Science); Seena Ramachandran and Ram Kumar (teachers of Engineering Graphics); and Nazanin Nadaf (Physical Education teacher), explained the opportunities with regard to optional subjects. It was an effective session and the students asked questions related to choosing streams in the medical and engineering fields, the school said in a statement.
