HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad asserted that the meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs represents a point of agreement to further proceed with joint Arab efforts in the field of social development.
She revealed that a roadmap has been set, regarding what has to be done in the coming period in terms of overcoming barriers and by anticipating the challenges, solutions, prospects and programmes. This will be implemented by activating different plans and initiatives, and carrying out development and social projects in the Arab countries.
While the 42nd meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs concluded after highlighting a range of considerable efforts, keenness and credible intentions to fulfil the aspirations of Arab citizens in eradicating multidimensional poverty, ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, achieving development goals and bolstering joint Arab action. At the same time, the conclusion marks the beginning of what will comes in the future, HE al-Misnad said in the closing session of the meeting.
She pointed out that the implementation of development plans at the social level cannot, and should not, be postponed or deliberated, especially that the matter of social development is one of the most pressing issues in the Arab region due to the emergence of new signs of economic conditions that impact the structure of societies.
These conditions will never be solved unless there is co-operation to overcome such global conditions through joint hard work, she stressed.
HE the Minister of Social Development and Family thanked and appreciated all participating entities that exhibited their unwavering desire to formulate the Arab programmes, projects and initiatives that aim to develop the Arab citizen and promote his/her social situation.
She also lauded the Ministry of Social Development and Family in Qatar, and the technical secretariat of the development affairs sector of the Arab League for their role in ensuring the success of the event.
Earlier yesterday, Qatar, represented by HE al-Misnad, assumed the presidency of the 42nd Meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs during its opening session. In her speech, HE al-Misnad expressed her thanks and appreciation for the trust placed in her by the Arab ministers of social affairs, and their support for her to assume the presidency of the 42nd meeting of the council.
