The Police Academy has provided details of the fifth batch of candidate students of the Ministry of Interior (MoI)'s Police Academy, whose graduation ceremony was held yesterday.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani patronised the graduation ceremony at the Police Training Institute in Al Sailiya yesterday morning.
According to Police Academy president Brigadier-General Abdul Rahman Majid al-Sulaiti, there are 100 graduates in this batch – 78 Qataris, 14 from Jordan, and eight from Palestine.
Graduates studied for four years in the Police College, receiving legal sciences, police sciences, and military training that qualify them to be officers in the MoI or the military authorities to which they belong.
Brigadier-General al-Sulaiti indicated that the celebration of the fifth batch comes amid many achievements, which were crowned with the establishment of the Police Academy at the end of 2022, within the framework of completing the modernisation and development process that the country is pursuing under its wise leadership.
He added that the Academy is currently made up of the Police College, the College of Postgraduate Studies, Ras Laffan Emergency and Safety College (RLESC), the Police Institute, the Women's Police Institute, and the Security Research and Studies Centre.
Police College director Lieutenant-Colonel Fahd al-Subaie said that the college organised the graduation ceremony, which was accompanied by a creative show.
Preparations for this year's graduation ceremony were prominent as rehearsals started two and a half months ago, while planning for this year's ceremony began right after the 2022 ceremony.
Lieutenant-Colonel al-Subaie said that the college students made extensive efforts and went through long tough training in preparation for the ceremony.
He added that this year's military parade differed from previous graduation parades, including having the participation of 400 students of the fifth, sixth, and seventh batches along with the eighth batch.
On the “Police Officers of Tomorrow” demonstration, Lieutenant-Colonel al-Subaie said that the college resumed the programme this year after a hiatus due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
He added that about 2,000 students participated in the programme, of which 150 students were selected and underwent six months of training.
Lieutenant-Colonel al-Subaie indicated that 88 students participated in the “Police Officers of Tomorrow” demonstration, reflecting the training in the past few months.
The director of administrative and financial affairs at the Police Academy, Colonel Youssef Bilal al-Abdullah, said that all security and service procedures for the graduation ceremony had been completed and put into practice.
