MES Indian School organised the graduation ceremony for its current batch of 563 Class XII students recently.
Although the overriding tone was festive, there was also a tinge of sadness about parting with their schoolmates, teachers and alma mater.
School president K Abdul Karim, the chief guest, congratulated the students on their successful completion of schooling and urged them to channelise all their energy, faith, talent and time into each opportunity that comes their way, while following their dreams, passions and living up to the expectations of their parents.
Principal Hameeda Kadar called upon the students to exercise discretion as the paths of life are diverse and advised them to adorn the mantle of perseverance and not to get carried away by the worldly attractions. Students who had 100% attendance during the academic year 2022-23 were presented with a certificate.
Representing the teachers, Ishrat Fatima from the Department of English delivered an inspiring speech. Students’ representatives, Johnpaul Lorance and Ibtisam Haseeb highlighted the multifarious roles and valuable contributions of their alma mater in preparing them to face the future successfully and also expressed their gratitude.
All the major student officials, prefects, club secretaries and Campus Care Force (CCF) members were given certificates for their contributions to the school. The best outgoing students of various streams of Class XII, who excelled in their respective domains, were honoured with certificates and mementos. Edwin Siby (Science), Mathew Binoy Kadavil (Commerce) and Azhar Ismail (Humanities) were adjudged the best outgoing students in the Boys’ Section, while Sehla Theruvath Kallungal Kabeer (Science), Hiba Asif (Commerce) and Afifa Bint Mustafa (Humanities) won the best outgoing student title in the Girls’ Section of the school.
Johnpaul Lorance (Boys section) and Aysha Hesham Mahmoud were declared the best all-rounders. Mohamed Roshan K M (Boys section) and Sree Nanda Vaniyan Kandy (Girls section) won the Talent of the Year award. Abdul Rahman Hazem (Boys) and Fanhal Fathima (Girls) were honoured with the title best outgoing prefects. Nikhil Manoj Kumar and Mohamed Nagi Mohamed Shaaban Mahmoud (Boys), Catherine Roy and Angelica Alex (Girls) were declared as the best sports talents of the year.
Hamzah Nabeel Shekhani (Boys) and Norvia Jaya Shiju were adjudged as the best outgoing Scout and Guide, respectively. Jeril Chakkumchira Reji (Boys) and Irene Susan Ribu (Girls) were declared as the best outgoing CCF members of the school.
Dr Najeeb K P (senior vice president), Khaleel A P (vice president), M C Mohamed (director, cultural and co-curricular activities), Firos K (director, Transport), Abdul Fathah P O (director, sports and games), Faisal Mayan (director, moral education and Islamic affairs) and other members of the school governing board, and school officials were among others present on the occasion.
Rema Devi, co-ordinator, Department of English, welcomed the gathering and Shiney Suresh proposed a vote of thanks. A medley of songs, by the outgoing students added zest to the farewell function. The school management hosted a lunch in honour of the outgoing students. Sudheesh N S and Galeena Binoth from the Department of Physics co-ordinated the farewell function.
